Mel Bay began his publishing company in 1947 when he saw a need for accessible, quality  instructional materials that would help advance the beginning musician.  They have grown over the years to be one of the leaders in musical instructional materials.  On a side note, I had the honor of meeting Mel and playing a couple of tenor banjo duets with him in the early 1980's at his store in Kirkwood, Missouri.  He was very excited about the opening of his new publishing facility in Pacific, Missouri and you could sense his commitment and love for musical advancement.  I wish we could have played all day!  Follow our links below for more information on Mel Bay's books and products.
